A forum is designed to allow everyone, that visits, the opportunity to exchange information about a common interest. A forum can either be completely freeform or it can have organized into predefined categories. Each of these categories can have one or more child forums.

This forum has several predefined categories that each have several child forums. This allows visitors to quickly scan the categories and quickly pick a category/child forum that interests them. As of this writing, these are the categories/child forums that this Forum supports.

Modesto Music Forum
|- - Welcome to Modesto Music Forum
|- - Feedback ad Requests
Music Genres
|- - Jazz, Swing & Blues
|- - Rock, Hip-Hop, R&B, & Pop
|- - Classical, Opera & Broadway
|- - Country, Bluegrass & Folk
|- - Latin, Salsa
|- - School and Youth - Band & Orchestra
Classified
|- - Musicians Available/Wanted
|- - Musical Groups Available/Wanted
|- - Instruments & Venues Available/Wanted
|- - Lessons Available/Wanted
Basement

Each of the child forums can have an endless number of topics. In this case, the topic's subject "What is the Modesto Music Forum about?" has been described as "This topic provides a rudimentary explanation of what a forum is."

What Is this forum's purpose?

Well, to be specific, this forum is designed to advance live music in the local Modesto, California area. Well, to be truthful, we will probably allow anything about music within a short drive from Modesto. We chose to call it Modesto, because it makes it much more personal, but saying Central California or Stanislaus County or Valley seems so impersonnal.
One of the ways we advance live music, is by allowing everyone to join for free. We do this as long as you abide by the forum's Terms of Use. The Terms of Use appears in another topic within this child forum.
Another way we advance live music is by appealing to all music genres. Now, before I selected the music genres, that would appear in the short list, I looked at Wicopedia under music genres and noticed that there were a lot that I have never heard of before. So I grabbed, the most common and put those together that I felt would share a common audience.

We also allows a classified area. After all, a musician has got to eat and get some axes.
